Kyle Hall Takes Shootout Points Lead With Third-Place Finish
While Kyle Hall has been hot in his Late Model Stock Car this season at Old Dominion Speedway (VA), he has been on fire in his Legends car at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in the 2007 Summer Shootout.  Tuesday night Hall continued his great season by finishing third in the Semi-Pro division race, taking over the series point’s lead.

“The car was really good,” said Hall.  “In the previous weeks we had some brake problems.  The longer the races went on the more problems we were having with the brakes.  We put all new brake pads on the car and got those working well in the heat race.  We started fifth and ended up winning that.

Hall used his solid finish in the heat race to start towards the front in the feature.  But a few problems on the track almost put and end to his great runs this year on the quarter-mile.
“We ended up starting fifth and on the start we got up to fourth and then third, explained Hall.  “We just drove around in third for a while.  After a restart I am not sure if someone missed a shift but we ended up falling back to eighth.  I was able to get back towards the front.

“Then someone in front of me had a loose oil line.  I would go into the corner and the car wouldn’t turn.  When his oil line completely blew it put oil all over my car and on the track.   It took me a while to get the oil off my tires.

“On a late caution I used the choose rule to start second alongside the leader.  I ended up dropping back to third on the start and that is where I finished.”

With his strong run, Hall took over the points lead for the Semi-Pro division.  In the Summer Shootout series, the points leader runs an orange flag on their car, signifying they are leading the points.  Hall is not sure he wants that flag this week.
“I am pretty sure having the points leader flag is bad luck.  When I had it on my car I got taken out.  When Darrell Wallace Jr had it he got taken out.  Daniel Hemric had it and he was taken out.  So now I have it again.”

Superstition aside, Hall is confident he will continue to run strong the rest of the Shootout.

“The car is pretty well flawless.  As long as I use my head we will be good.”

Hall will return to Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) for the seventh round of the Summer Shootout series in his #69 Semi-Pro Legends car on Tuesday, July 17th.  Before he heads back to the Legends realm, Hall will drive his #69 Late Model Stock Car at Old Dominion Speedway (VA) on Saturday, July 14th in twin racing events.
