Kyle Hall Closes Out Shootout With A Third-Place Finish
After nine grueling rounds in the 2007 Summer Shootout at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC), Kyle Hall was looking to close out the Legends Semi-Pro division with his second win in three weeks. While Hall wasn’t able to take the winner’s trophy home, a third-place finish was just fine for the young driver.
“We had a great starting position starting on the outside pole,” said Hall. “I tried to get a good jump on the start, but Christian Pahud had a really strong car. I ended up falling down behind him. I was all over his bumper trying to make moves on him here or there. I messed up in one turn and from there my car got really tight. I settled back in the second spot.

“On a restart on the Choose two cars went to the outside so I was in third. The guy behind me punted me really bad before the green. I hit Christian Pahud and it slowed us down pretty good. I fell back to around fifth and the same guy drilled me again. I fell back to seventh. I tried to keep my head in the game and not get mad. I started picking off cars here and there and was trying to help Daniel Hemric get up there to the front for the points.”
On the last lap of the race, two drivers that were battling for the title ended up making contact, creating a pileup on the track. Hall was able to scoot by and finish third.
“I am not sure what happened with Steven Ross and Hemric,” said Hall. “Ross got black flagged and I saw Hemric’s car sitting there so I put two and two together. I hate it for Hemric. He had a great run going all season. I guess we benefited from it a little bit. To come from sixth in points to third, I can’t be happier.”
Kyle Hall will return to the seat of his #69 Late Model Stock Car for the next race at Old Dominion Speedway (VA) on Saturday, August 11th.
