Kyle Hall Continues Impressive Season With Another Top-10 At Old Dominion
When a driver switches to a new car and division, there is usually an adjustment period.  When the switch is from a small Legends car to a full-bodied Late Model Stock car, top finishes right out of the gate are not expected.  Kyle Hall has challenged that theory and changed the minds of many after finishing eighth Saturday at Old Dominion Speedway (VA).  It was his third Late Model Stock Car race and third straight top-10 finish.
Starting 10th in the scheduled 100 lap race, Hall used patience through the first part of the race, preparing for the run to the checkered flag.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature stepped in and prevented that plan from happening.

“We were good on the start of the race,” said Hall.  “I got the car to the bottom of the track right away.  Around lap 30 I moved up to eighth place and was just taking my time until the halfway mark to go.  Around lap 35 it started to lightly rain.  The track ended up getting slick, and then at the halfway point the caution came out for the weather.  They ended up calling the race right then.

“I was just trying to save my tires for the end of the race and see if it would help me.  I didn’t get a chance to try it out and see if I could go.”

What made this run even more impressive for Hall were the issues under the hood that they discovered after the race.

“It was down on power coming out of the turns,” explained Hall.  “We couldn’t figure out what it was.  After the race we took the car down to the engine dyno.  We are supposed to have 360 horsepower.  We only had 320 horsepower.  One guy told us it was like going to a gunfight with a stick.  We are going to take the engine apart and see what is wrong with it and hopefully get some power back into it for this weekend.”
With three top-10 finishes in only three starts this season, Kyle Hall is extremely pleased with season thus far.

“I think we are doing well.  I have finished every race and have been in the top-10 each one this year.  That has put us in a three-way tie for second place in track points.  I couldn’t be happier with our performance.”

Kyle Hall will return to Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA, for the 75-lap Late Model Stock Car race on Saturday, May 19th.
