Kyle Hall Sneaks Around For Fifth-Place Finish
Sometimes luck dictates whether a driver will get involved in a wreck or be able to steer around it. Sometimes it is skill, wheeling the car through to the other side of a mess. For Kyle Hall, a little bit of both allowed him to finish fifth in the 100-lap Late Model Stock race at Old Dominion Speedway (VA) Saturday, his fifth top-eight finish of the season.

Hall’s day didn’t start out the way he wanted to, and it looked like it was going to be a long race.
“We are still down on power,” said Hall. “When we went into qualifying, with everyone else having more horsepower and new tires, we didn’t do so well. For some reason the car felt very different and was very
tight. We ended up qualifying 10th out of 12 cars.
“From the first lap, it progressively got worse. I made my way up to eighth, and I couldn’t do much more. Actually no one could. My spotter told me that for just about 95 laps there wasn’t any passing going on besides me.”
In the late stages of the race, three leaders got together, forcing Hall to take evasive action. With his quick thinking, he was able to get around for position on the track.
“With about two laps to go the top-three cars got into a bundle,” said Hall. “I snuck around them, stealing a fifth place finish.”
With two fifth-place finishes over the last two races, Hall has moved up the charts in track points at Old Dominion, service notice he is a contender for the championship in his rookie Late Model Stock season.
“After these two races, I have moved my way up to second in points,” said Hall. “I couldn’t do this if it wasn’t for my Dad, my Godfather Charles, Dicky Boswell and my brothers Billy, Jason and Robbie. These guys have put so much time and effort into the car. I can’t express how much their help means to me.
Kyle Hall will return to Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA, for the 200-lap Late Model Stock Car race on Saturday, June 2nd.
