Kyle Hall Turns Bad Night Into Eighth-Place Finish at Old Dominion
Sometimes lady luck takes a night off.  Kyle Hall found that out Saturday at Old Dominion Speedway (VA) in his Late Model Stock Car.  A chain of events kept Hall from visiting victory lane for the second week in a row, but skill and determination allowed him to cross the finish line in eighth position, keeping his streak of all top-10 finishes alive this season.

Hall’s trouble showed up when they unloaded the car for practice and carried all the way through to the race.
“The night before we changed rotors, brake pads and a few other things on the car,” said Hall.  “I went out on the track in practice, and when I got on the brakes I couldn’t get it to stop at all.  I went into the pits and put the old brake pads on the car.  Then the second practice I went into the turn and ended up looping the car and hit the wall.

“In qualifying I would barely get on the brakes a quarter of an inch and the tires would lock up.  I don’t know if we had bad fluid or something wrong with the brake system.  We ended up qualifying 14th.”

When Hall started the race, he was hoping his luck would change.  Unfortunately, contact with cars that were out of control forced him into the pits to get the car back straight.  While he was able to wheel his car to the finish, it wasn’t easy.

“In the race the car was shoving all night long,” said Hall.  “I had to back out of it going into the turns because it was pushing so bad.  We still had the brake problems and I had to barely put my foot on the brake to slow down.  I was pushing it as hard as I could and ended up eighth.

“That was the most tiring race I have been in.  We have the car back at the shop and we are taking it apart to correct the problems.  Hopefully we will have something for these boys next week.”
Hall will return to Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) for the third round of the Summer Shootout in his #69 Semi-Pro division Legends car on Tuesday, June 26th.  Then on Saturday, June 30th Hall will pilot his #69 Late Model Stock Car at Old Dominion Speedway (VA).
