Eager to return, Hall still has it

After a few weeks of being away from the track, Kyle Hall and his crew were eager to return to Southern National Raceway Park for the two 50 lap feature races. Once having unloaded the car, Hall and his crew were confident that they didn’t have to make any adjustments to make the car as equally fast as it had previously been.

When Hall went out for the first practice, his lap times further backed his crew’s thoughts. After running a consistent amount of fast laps, Hall’s crew decided not to run the second round of practice. After making a minor adjustment, Hall was set for qualifying.

Halls car was a little bit too tight for his run, which would ultimately give him a five place starting position. Although Hall and his crew weren’t too pleased in their qualifying efforts, they were confident that they had a car that would be in contention for the win. As Hall was strapping into his late model, he was determined to put his racecar into the victory lane.

While the green flag flew for the first of the two 50 lap features, Hall was patient and picked off one car at a time. After battling from 5th to 3rd, Hall chased down the 2nd place car and made an aggressive pass because the laps were winding down.

Hall had a lot of ground to make up in order to pass the leader, however he got a break because a fellow competitor had spun, bringing out the caution; the track had also made a new rule saying all restarts were going to be double file. Hall was the first to put this rule to the test.

Since Hall was in second place, he had to start on the outside of the leader. When the green flag flew, Hall was able to stay along side of the leader and almost pull away. Hall’s car got loose however, causing him to drop to the second place position and follow in behind the leader. Hall was given another break when caution came out once again and Hall was given a second chance on the outside.

This time, Hall got a great restart and was able to slowly get passed the leader on the outside lane. As soon as Hall was clear of his fellow competitor he never looked back and was able to hold on to capture his 6th win of the season.

For the second of the 50 lap features, Hall’s car began acting up right from the start. Hall’s crew wasn’t sure what the problem was so Hall was told to bring it into the pits. Hall would not go back out that night, due to a flat tire he received during warm-up laps.
